Best Things to Do in NYC March 2026

March is always an exciting month in New York City. With any luck, New Yorkers begin to see the very first signs of spring. There are also cultural celebrations, such as St. Patrick’s Day, and nostalgic fun, such as a Hannah Montana 20th anniversary show at MSG. Let’s explore the best things to do in NYC in March 2026.

Night in the Library

Night in the Library is one of the most uniquely New York activities around. On March 14th, 2026, the Brooklyn Library will open its doors for a free after-hours festival featuring art, discussions and movie screenings at its Grand Army Plaza location. Since the event takes place on Pi Day, the theme is “The Philosophy of Mathematics” and the hours at 7pm until 3:14 am. The key speaker will be Werner Herzog.

The Best of Both Worlds

For a generation of New Yorkers, Hannah Montana was a cultural icon. It’s pretty crazy to believe it’s been 20 years since she graced our television sets. On March 24th, a special 20th Anniversary Concert will overtake Madison Square Garden, with plans to stream on Disney+.

St. Patrick’s Day

Did you know that New York City has the oldest St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world? The 265th New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at 11 am. As always, the parade will take place along Fifth Avenue and march past St. Patrick’s Cathedral. This year’s Grand Marshal is Robert James “Bob” McCann who has built a distinguished career in financial services. We also happen to think he, and all your favorite Irish New Yorkers, would look amazing on our Welcome to Times Square billboard.

Women’s History Month

March is Women’s History Month, and there are many events throughout the city. A notable celebration offered by The New York Public Library is free floral design workshops in both Staten Island and the Bronx. As is the case with most NYC events, it is recommended you pre-register.

Free Ice Skating

As winter comes to a close, so does the outdoor ice skating season. Wollman Rink in Central Park still has some tricks up its sleeve. To celebrate the 75th anniversary of Wollman Rink, it will host three days of free ice skating. The family-friendly event takes place from March 20-22.

GANYC Apple Awards

We at Welcome to Times Square have a soft spot for New York City tour guides, especially as we are soon launching our own tour company! The Guides Association of New York City always takes it upon themselves to honor the best of New York with their annual Apple Awards. This year, a podcast filmed in our very own Welcome to Times Square podcast studio is nominated! The event takes place at Lincoln Center March 9th.
