Rockefeller Center in New York City

Rockefeller Center is one of the most important tourist attractions in New York City. It is one of those unmissable places, full of history and culture and that can also be greatly benefited from as it also offers its visitors impressive views of the city’s skyscrapers.

This emblematic place has a strategic location in Midtown, between the iconic Fifth and Sixth avenues, and 48th and 51st streets. Its centerpieces are the 30 Rock skyscraper, its famous Top of the Rock observation deck and Radio City Music Hall.

The history of the Rockefeller Center dates to the 1930s, during the Great Depression. When John D. Top of the Rock Observatory

It is a viewpoint with a spectacular view of the Big Apple, which is located on the 67th and 70th floor of the building. From its terraces you can enjoy a unique panoramic view of New York, including the Empire State Building and Central Park.

The suggestion here is to purchase entrance tickets early to avoid long lines and save time. The most special time to visit it is at sunset since the sunsets seen from there are truly wonderful.

Radio City Music Hall

Within the Rockefeller Center complex is another of its most emblematic buildings: Radio City Music Hall, inaugurated in 1932 and which is considered the most important theater in the United States.

Its star show is the Christmas Spectacular (available from November to early January). It is a Christmas musical starring the Rockettes, the famous precision dance company that dates to the 1930s.

When visiting it, you can enjoy the tour they offer inside the theater, which is really unmissable.

Rockefeller Plaza

In the central square it is a very famous space since the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is installed there at Christmas (from the end of November to the beginning of January) and from the end of October to the beginning of April the Rockefeller ice skating rink Ice Rink. The track can also be enjoyed outside the winter season, as it is used as a track for roller skates,

There you can also see in the background the iconic golden statue of Prometheus, the titan of Greek mythology, and bordering the entire square, 193 flags representing the different nations of the world.

The Channel Gardens

Between Fifth Avenue and the Rockefeller Center Plaza, there is a small canal approximately 80 meters long called Channel Gardens. Its name refers to the English Channel, since these gardens separate the buildings La Maison Française and the British Empire Building, just as the channel divides France and Great Britain.

Depending on the season of the year, its decoration changes, there you can find pumpkins, Easter rabbits, flowers, Christmas lights or angels.

The Concourse

Beneath Rockefeller Center lies The Concourse, an underground network of passages that connect each of the Rockefeller Center buildings. This is the place where workers also enter their offices and also connects directly with the different metro lines that do reach the complex. Also, here you can find cafes, restaurants, bookstores and the Top of the Rock ticket office

NBC Studios

Here you can find the home of the NBC television network. In these studios Saturday Night Life, Late Night with Seth Meyers and Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show are recorded.

For those who can plan to visit these studios, it is possible to attend one of the recordings or rehearsals of these shows for free.
