The Great Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
The Great Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree
Since the Halloween season is over, the Christmas season is coming and therefore it is time to choose the great Rockefeller Center Christmas tree.
Real estate giant Tishman Speyer announced Wednesday that the 2023 Rockefeller Center Christmas tree will come from Vestal, New York. The Christmas tree will be cut down in Vestal on Thursday, November 9, before traveling approximately 200 miles to Manhattan. It will arrive at the plaza on Saturday, November 11 and will be hoisted into place. The tree joining what is now NBC’s annual tradition is an 80-year-old Norway spruce that measures 80 feet tall and 43 feet wide, according to Rockefeller Center. The 12-tonne tree will arrive in the city later this month ahead of the lighting.
The tree’s arrival is expected to be a spectacle as always, and there will be fun, family-friendly activities for holiday lovers to enjoy in the South Plaza from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to 1 p.m. m., according to the organizers. The Rock and Roll Playhouse will feature Christmas classics for children and there will also be story time with independent bookstore McNally Jackson.
Little ones will also have the opportunity to write letters to Santa, decorate their own ornaments and even paint their faces.
The festivities are free to the public, but those who RSVP in advance will receive a gift upon check-in.
After arriving at Center Plaza, more than 50,000 multicolored LEDs will be placed along approximately 5 miles of wire to adorn the 2023 tree. It will then be topped with a 9-foot, 900-pound Swarovski star covered in 3 million crystals.
The tree lighting show will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, November 29.
In supermarkets they have been announcing the arrival of Christmas for a few weeks now. It seems like everything is moving forward, so are your plans. We propose a Christmas in New York with all the luxury of details that you will love and that will become that great dream that you had pending. Surely when you see all the plans to make this Christmas in the Big Apple, you will begin to make a selection of flights to New York that leave before the indicated dates. Because once there, one of the most obligatory stops is to see the Christmas lights in the Dyker Heights neighborhood. The truth is that it is a Brooklyn neighborhood that a priori has a fundamental tradition. This is a type of competition that began back in the 80s and was responsible for giving more life to the area when Christmas arrived. For this reason, each neighbor managed to be the best with all kinds of decorations and varied lights.
If you can be present, it would be one of the most magical moments. Like every year, the Christmas lighting ceremony brings together numerous people in an event that lasts a couple of hours. In it there is music, well-known faces and of course, the lighting of the tree that takes place late at night, around 10 p.m. All of this takes place at Rockefeller Center.
A little exercise never hurts to get through the intense cold of the city. So, it is common for the Wollman Rink ice rink to always be prepared for this, because it is public. But be careful, because there will not be as many people as in the Rockefeller Center and you will be able to carry out your activity without major problems. In addition, you will have Manhattan as a witness.
It’s also not bad to be able to enjoy the smaller shops or department stores that have the most appropriate Christmas decorations. So a walk through all of this will make you integrate much more and may give you the occasional little gift that you didn’t expect. Stop by Macy’s and you will enjoy twice as much with your family. Another legendary meeting point is the FAO Schwarz toy store. There you will have the classic giant piano that appeared in the movie BIG and a parade of numerous toys that will bring back endless memories. In addition, it becomes a whole Christmas village, where it seems that every dream comes true and not only for the little ones in the family, but those who are not so little anymore, will also enjoy it a lot.
The truth is that the cold is the main protagonist of the Christmas season and even more so in New York. So, go looking for some other place where you can taste a delicious hot chocolate, it won’t be complicated because there are many people who opt for a plan like this.
