Enjoy the activities of the “Flatiron Summer Series”, which returns each summer with free fitness classes, salsa dancing, experiential public art and a summer solstice sundial, all at the Flatiron Public Plaza, in the shade of the famous Flatiron Building. With a duration of eight weeks, the series has already started and will conclude on Wednesday, August 9.
The third installment of the Dominican Taste Festival returns to Upper Manhattan this Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25, from 10 am to 8 pm, under the slogan “Eating Together is Better.” Dedicated to the San Juan de la Maguana province, the free event will take over several blocks of Washington Heights, from Plaza Quisqueya to La Marina located on the banks of the Hudson River, showcasing the diversity of Dominican culinary culture. Organized by the Dominican American Chamber of Commerce with the participation of numerous institutions and companies, the gastronomic and cultural festival will feature performances by the Los Toros Band orchestra, Ruby Pérez from merenguero and other renowned artists; while the gastronomic pavilion will be directed by chef Amilkar Gonell who will direct several cooking shows with the participation of renowned chefs from the island and NYC.
White Wave Dance celebrates the 22nd anniversary of the Dumbo Dance Festival (DDF) which brings together today’s most innovative dance creators, both emerging and established, to Brooklyn for one weekend. Through June 25, lovers of this art form will experience a veritable cornucopia of the best in contemporary dance, featuring a wide variety of groups from across the United States and around the world, allowing audiences to experience first-hand hand, the incomparable vitality of the dance. At the Mark Morris Dance Center (3 Lafayette Ave, Brooklyn).
Celebrate the Afro-Venezuelan tradition of San Juan in a procession, dancing and singing to the rhythm of the drums. This festival was originally a slave celebration on cocoa and coffee plantations on the Caribbean coast of Venezuela, and later adopted and syncretized by the Catholic Church. It has been celebrated for hundreds of years during the summer solstice and the birth of Saint John the Baptist. It will be presented by the group Tambor y Caña, a traditional Afro-Venezuelan music project with an experimental approach founded in May 2017 in Brooklyn. The free event is part of the “Summer for the City” series, and will take place this Saturday, June 24 at 1:00 pm, at Josie Robertson Plaza.
If you like fishing or would like to try the sport, New York State is hosting its second free fishing weekend of the year this June 24-25, Governor Kathy Hochul announced.
Fishing is considered one of the most therapeutic outdoor activities, making it an ideal activity for all New Yorkers looking to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.

A day of jazz in Queens
This Saturday, June 24, join the “Queens Rising” celebration of arts and culture for a day of free Latin jazz at Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City. The event will feature three live music ensembles: Luisito Quintero & 3er Elemento (4:00 pm – 5:00 pm), this Venezuelan-born master percussionist has more than 60 Grammy Awards; Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble Yosvany Terry (5:30 pm – 6:30 pm), a visionary composer who masterfully fuses the traditional sounds of his native Cuba with sophisticated harmonies; and Claudia Valentina Montes (7:00 pm – 8:00 pm); interpreter of boleros, rancheras, son jarocho, cumbias and original and classic indigenous pieces.

This Sunday, June 25, the former Midtown NY Rangers fan base, Mustang Harry’s (7th Ave and 30th, next to MSG), will host another hugely popular installment of its NYRFans Player Meet & Greet event with former players Mike Rupp, Stanley Cup champion; Joey Kocur, three-time Stanley Cup champion; Brian Boyle, NHL Network analyst; and Colton Orr. From 3:00 to 7:00 p.m.
